He is well-known as a session musician, particularly for having played with Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon, Linda Ronstadt, Curtis Mayfield, James Taylor, David Crosby, Terry Reid, Graham Nash, Bob Dylan and Rod Stewart. He has collaborated with fellow guitarists Ry Cooder and Henry Kaiser and led his own band, 'El Rayo X.'
